WHAT WE DO

  • Plan and implement professional  development for partner schools to meet their specific needs

  • Provide instructional coaching and ongoing support of general and special educators using research-based methodologies and best practice in special education

  • In partnership with Hidden Sparks, facilitate the training and mentoring of teacher coaches in schools

  • Offer parent workshops about a range of disabilities designed to increase understanding and use of practical strategies at home

SHEMESH IN ACTION

SHEMESH is a strong supporter of teacher training and has partnered with organizations like Hidden Sparks and the Paxis Institute to deliver high quality, practical workshops that literally change the way teachers teach! After one such training, a math teacher shared that she completely revamped her curriculum. Another teacher said, “this training has given me a variety of tools that I can use to support my struggling students. It’s been empowering for me to know that I can help those students and not just rely on the learning specialists.” In our effort to meet the needs of teachers we ask them what they are interested in learning about and then plan trainings on those topics. With so little time and so much to do, the teachers appreciate that we are customizing the workshops to suit them.
