About SHEMESH
MISSION
SHEMESH provides, on a community-wide basis, the educational support necessary for Jewish children with learning differences to reach their full intellectual, academic, emotional and social potential in a Jewish setting. Services are offered in each school in accordance with the school’s educational and religious policies.
VISION
SHEMESH will provide services in a Jewish setting to children with disabilities that impact learning, to educators to enhance their skills for teaching all students, to families seeking information and support and to the general community to increase awareness and acceptance of all individuals with disabilities.
VALUES
We value and take pride in being a community that makes the education of each and every Jewish child a priority. We value a clear and equitable process to evaluate the needs of each child who requests special services. We value, respect and nurture the individual capabilities and learning styles of each child. We value the effort to help each child fulfill his or her potential. We value the place that every child has in the Jewish community.
THE ASSOCIATED
SHEMSH is proud to be an agency of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore along with 26 other agencies. We harness the strength of our agencies to form ONE network. This allows us to serve you, our community and the world better. Each of our agencies, receives a significant portion of their funding from The Associated. Each of our agencies also have access to many services provided by The Associated such as: finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. This approach allows us to collectively meet the needs of today’s Jews and tomorrow’s leaders.
